Gorgeous Pets

The adorable dachshund puppies were just three months old when we separated them from their parents and their care takers and brought them to their new place of dwelling. They were quite tiny and very playful and we just could not keep them off our eyes. All of us in our house love dogs which is an added plus point that we instantly decided to adopt a couple of dachshund puppies when we saw an advertisement in a local daily. We chose the healthy pair and were very excited to bring them home.

It took us a couple of days to decide about their names. Finally I suggested “Pepper and Mint” which was liked and accepted by all the family members. Pepper and Mint was easier to call and suitable for their size and character. They were too cute and sharp.

Pepper was the female puppy and Mint was the male and bigger in size. Pepper was dressed with a red collar to match up with her name and Mint in blue. All of us adored them and spent all the spare time playing with the puppies.

Then came the time to train them and we fixed a police person to train the puppies. However it wasn’t an easy job for the cop. After a couple of sessions he disappeared and avoided attending the sessions.

We tried to train Pepper and Mint and were successful only to a certain extent to make them to sit and stand.

The Dachshund is a vibrant and affectionate breed. They are smaller in size and enjoy the outdoors and love to dig and chase birds and cats. They like to bark and are playful petite dogs. The Dachshunds love to bark, which makes them a good watchdog, as they alert us when strangers are at the door.

As far as grooming is concerned, the Dachshund is relatively easy to take care of. Its short haired type fur simply need to be groomed once a week or bi-weekly with a soft brush. This will remove any dead hair and keep their coat to shine glossy. Occasionally we wash them with water and shampoo and it isn’t a hassle bathing them.

Pepper and Mint are an extremely faithful breed and make wonderful family pets. Their small size makes them ideal and they are relatively easy to care for. They are the loyal companions who love spending time with us.

Mint the male dog always likes to go around in the compound and look out for the prey. He will watch and quietly pounce on the smaller species like squirrels and birds. He was successful in his ventures a couple of times, where the tiny squirrels were his victims.

Pepper and Mint are fed with Pedigree feed, fish and rice and occasionally meat. They can gulp down only a limited quantity.

They always need company and a need human touch. An ideal dog to breed as they can be kept indoors without the uneasiness of falling of hair.
